Donate this Christmas and help at-risk New Zealanders save their sight!
It was the middle of the night. Maureen tossed and turned. Her mind raced. Frightening thoughts felt out of her control.
That evening, Maureen was returning to Auckland after celebrating a family birthday in Tauranga. During the drive, she suddenly realised she couldn’t read the road signs.
Maureen knew something was wrong with her vision but didn’t know what.
“I’ll never forget that night”, Mauren told us years later. “It was scary because I didn’t know why I couldn’t see those road signs.”
Maureen had never heard of macular degeneration. She had never seen an Amsler Grid. That’s the tool people use at home to check for early warning signs of the disease.
Early detection can save sight.
Maureen remembers her aunt who lost her sight at age 77 and lived for another 22 years with blindness. Maureen didn’t want to live like that.
She didn’t want to miss out on the joy of seeing her grandchildren’s smiling faces – clear and in focus.
When you donate this Christmas, you will make a:
Real difference as more Kiwis attend seminars and become aware of macular degeneration.
Real difference as more people like Maureen receive an Amsler Grid for early detection.
Real difference as more people contact the Save Sight Helpline for emotional support and helpful referrals.
We receive no government funding to keep these services going.
Your support can make a life-changing difference for at-risk New Zealanders.
You can help them save their sight!
"Thank you for your help. I stay positive for the more help to come."
